Business Continuity Update

In the light of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, we are maintaining the measures previously put in place to ensure that we still continue to keep the highest level of service to our clients and to help to protect our clients and our team.

Ash House office

The office continues to be staffed by a combination of working from home and operating still with a minimum number at Ash House. We can all be contacted directly on our mobile numbers for each team member supplied to our clients, or by the Ash House main number of 0121 770 1221.

Ash House is now open for face to face client meetings as an alternative to virtual meetings if this is preferable. We find this is helpful for new clients who wish to meet us in the first instance and afterwards prefer the convenience of Zoom meetings.

Existing clients

Virtual attendances at conferences with Counsel and the Court, as before, are reviewed on an individual basis.

The majority of Court Hearings continue to be conducted remotely via telephone or Microsoft Teams.

For Attended Hearings, Attendance is limited depending on the Court and their Covid-19 plan. In attendance it is likely to be the parties and Counsel or Solicitor (if Counsel hasn’t been retained). If you are represented by Counsel, if possible and subject to arrangement with the Court office, your solicitor will attend virtually.

New clients

As stated above now offer face to face meetings which we find are welcomed by new clients.

We continue to offer a first virtual meeting via Zoom, Teams or Skype on the basis that we receive in advance details of the client’s concerns, whether personal, financial, or involving children or any combination of those issues. We find this works well, particularly if followed by a meeting note or an email summarising the advice provided.

For the re-assurance of our clients, all confidential emails will be encrypted and the password information supplied on each occasion. The system we have is very user friendly.

Any queries or concerns please give me a call on 0121 770 1221 or email me on [email protected]

As the situation develops we will continue to be alert to Government advice and will keep you updated as to any changes in our procedures and plans.

Mercy Messenger
Family Law

Est 1983

Experienced. Resourceful. Effective.

Who We Are

Mercy Messenger Solicitors was established by founder partner Mercy Messenger in 1983 and is continually developing and strengthening its expertise. The firm is widely regarded as one of the leading matrimonial and family law specialist practices in Birmingham and the West Midlands. The aim of the firm is to provide services of the highest quality which produce fair and effective results.

We are large enough to handle all aspects of complex cases across the spectrum of work involved in relationship breakdowns, whilst small enough to provide the specialised committed service to which all clients are entitled.

The firm is fortunate to have the consultancy services of partner David Messenger who is a specialist commercial lawyer with extensive corporate finance experience. To our clients he brings a thorough understanding of their business concerns and of the valuation aspects that can arise out of relationship breakdown, especially the implications for family businesses.

Clients come from a broad range of backgrounds, including business, professional, academic, arts and entertainment, farming, equestrian, and abroad, and are as different as the problems they bring to us.

The majority if not all of our clients come to us by way of recommendation by colleagues, friends or family, as well as via referrals from other lawyers, and frequently by way of recommendation by the other side in previous cases!

We have also established a reputation in successfully concluding cases for clients coming to us for a second opinion with reservations about advice they have previously received.

"A great team all round. Mercy puts you at ease and you know she has got your back, her immense knowledge just shines through"
